Anthony B wrote a review Mar 2020 - Uniquely attractive, so special

Staying at Dev Shree was unquestionably the highlight of our 3 week your of Rajasthan. In all aspects it is outstanding. The magic is provided by the social interaction with one's hosts, Bhavna and Shatrunjai. They effortlessly created an atmosphere of staying with close friends in their beautiful country house. Of course the place itself does help. Lovely rooms, wonderful breakfasts on the terrace overlooking the lake (not least the best coffee in India and delicious homemade jams and marmalades), delicious food at all times. The staff are also amazingly hospitable, Mahipal, the manager, Mukesh the barber (amazing wet shave on the terrace in early morning sunshine after a brisk swim) and also a highly accomplished masseur (his mother attends to female guests), Vikram , who made the most delicious breakfast omelettes and squeezed the oranges for fresh juice plus managing all the food, and Vijender, the artist who also took us around the village. Thee are lots of interesting excursions, leopard spotting (we just missed him but the sundowner G&T compensated), the morning walk to the hilltop temple, and walkng around the lake, with an excursion to the ancient hilltop fort, which is part of the family domain. If we could only stay in one place in India it would be here. We stayed for 3 nights, one could easily enjoy a longer stay.

Situated about 220 Km. from the busy town of Udaipur lies the small but royal town of Deogarh. Dev Shree is a place which offers one the perfect opportunity to momentarily press pause on the chaos of life. Once here, you never truly leave. The rooms are huge and luxurious, the gardens are perfectly manicured, the setting is magnifique. As the hosts say, they have no chefs... all they have are family cooks who have mastered the age old techniques and recipes to serve you some of the best food you would have ever had, made with the most important ingredient...love. Bhavna and Shatrunjai are the perfect host who leave no stone unturned to make their guests have a memorable stay. Shatrunjai is a fantastic storyteller with countless tails to tell. What make Dev Shree so special is in fact the personal involvement of the hosts with all their guests, something not so common with other Palace Hotels. The activities include Game Drives where one may spot a leopard, hiking trails, lake walks,
